Metal Gear Rising 'was' cancelled.

When Metal Gear Rising was first shown, fans of the series were most likely expecting to hear some news about the game in the coming months after. It had been a long time since we heard any news related to this game, before the VGA’s of course, and the reason for this was apparently the game had been literally canceled at one point. The team at Kojima Productions loved the gameplay element of being able to cut anything in any way the player wanted, but found it difficult to incorporate this into a full game with a fleshed out story. It wasn’t until Platinum Games offered to take reigns on the development of the game, that it was then considered ‘not cancelled’. The team also decided to rename the game, to give a more distinct difference from this game to the Metal Gear Solid series.

Apparently, The game was also planned to take place between Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4, but now, after Platinum games took control, the game will take place
after Metal gear Solid 4. No reasoning behind this has been explained, but we can now rest assured knowing that the game is definitely going to see release at some point in the future.
