Pokémon Direct Reveals New Information About Pokémon X and Y.

New information has been revealed about the forthcoming Pokémon games for the Nintendo 3DS,
Pokémon X Version and Pokémon Y Version, during a Pokémon Direct Broadcast this evening.

Firstly, it was revealed that a new service called ‘Pokémon Bank’ will be available later this year. The 3DS eShop download will allow players to save their Pokémon in a cloud-like storage box, increasing the amount of Pokémon players can save, allowing for up to 3,000 Pokémon. This service will also assist in future releases, allowing players to rest assured that their Pokémon will always be available to them, regardless of new games and consoles, as well as allowing them to transfer their current Pokémon Black/White and Pokemon Black 2/White 2 Pokemon into their Pokémon Bank via the ‘Poké Transporter’. There service will incur an annual fee.

It was also revealed that the new starter Pokémon will not be given to you in the game by the games resident Professor, but from an in-game ally instead. Later in the games story, the professor will offer you a Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle, harkening back to the original Pokémon games. During the broadcast, the Mega-Evolution forms of Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise were also shown.

Finally, it was confirmed that two special Pokémon-themed 3DS consoles will be available in North America and Europe prior to the games release, which can be seen below.

Pokemon X and Y will release worldwide on October 12th.
