Xbox 360 successor to be six times more powerful

According to IGN, a new rumour has surfaced about the upcoming successor to the Xbox 360. IGN has stated that their sources have confirmed that the production of the systems GPU will begin before the year is out. It will be based on AMD’s 6000 series, which was introduced last year.

To put this into perspective, based on these rumours, the Xbox 360 successor will be six times more powerful than the current Xbox 360 and roughly 20% more powerful than Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U.

Also, more rumours have been floating around suggesting that it may use Blu-ray discs and may sport some kind of ‘anti-used-game’ technology. This could be a real downer for those who want to resell, or lend a game to someone else. However, it also poses the possibility that games will have a lower price tag because of this. Only time will tell what Xbox plans to do with its future console.

The Last Story coming to Europe (and possibly Australia). [UPDATE]

Looks like Australia will be receiving the game a day earlier than those in Europe. The Last Story will be released for the Wii on February 23, 2012. Get excited for the latest game by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the famed developer of the Final Fantasy series.

The Last Story, an action RPG game for the Wii that was released to rave reviews in Japan, has been given a release date for Europe. The Japanese RPG, which was developed by Mistwalker, a company that was founded by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, received a 38/40 in a Famitsu review, with two of the reviewers giving the game a perfect 10. This is great news for Wii owners who enjoy the RPG genre.

The Game will be hitting shelves in Europe on the 24th of February, which means that Australia may be seeing a release sometime after. The game hasn’t been announced for North America as of yet, but seeing how Xenoblade Chronicles eventually got a release date in North America, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they got one for The Last Story too.

The Wii is a system that is lacking in RPG games, especially those with great reviews, and the release of The Last Story in Europe is helping breath fresh life into the ‘over five year old’ console. Stay tuned to the site for any news on an Australian release date.

3DS demos have arrived

3DS demos have finally arrived on the 3DS today with two upcoming 3DS titles. The first demo comes from Resident Evil: Revelations, which will be released in February and the second comes from Cooking Mama 4. The downside is that the demo for Resident Evil: Revelations takes up quite a lot of space and both demos also can only be played a total of 30 times before they ‘expire.’ This marks a relatively important moment for Nintendo fans as it is more proof that they are working on their online presence. Make sure to pick up the demos, which are available right now for free.

Two 3DS Zelda games on the way? [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] 18.01.2012

Looks like this appears to be a fake. It seemed a little off considering the strange name and oddly designed logo, but it is still a great attempt to fool us all. Stay tuned for any more information regarding a future Zelda title.

A rumour has appeared stating that the upcoming Legend of Zelda game for 3DS will be released as two titles, much like the Oracle of Seasons/Ages games and similar to what Pokemon have done with every major release.

An image has been found of two logos for the potential future games which can be seen below. The Japanese text translates to “Fire Prophecy” and “Ice Prophecy.” The images first appeared on 4Chan.

Fingers crossed that we hear some more details about the upcoming games, and the validity of these logos. Either way, this is exciting news for Zelda fans if it does turn out to have some truth to it.

Early on, Nintendo announced that they were working on two new Zelda titles. Most presumed that they meant one for the 3DS and one for the upcoming Wii U, but this simultaneous release may be more what they meant.

What's next for the Mega Man franchise?

The future of the Mega Man franchise is currently up in the air. With two games being cancelled in 2011 (Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3) and Mega Man not being featured in the recent Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, its unsure whether Mega Man has been dropped from Capcom to some degree.

Two 3DS games revealed by Ratings.

Sometimes video games get outed by the ratings system in Australia and other countries, such as Japan in this case. It seems we have confirmation of one upcoming game for the 3DS due to being rated down under and the other has been rated in Japan.

The first is a full-fledged release for the 3DS coming from the Harvest Moon franchise, titled Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns. Tale of Two Towns is a remake of a game of the same name for the DS. It is very similar, with a few minor changes, including 3D support.

The second is a Virtual Console game that was rated for release in Japan titled The Fortress of Fury 2. This game is the sequel to Fortified Zone, which was released on the VC sometime last year. This game however, was never released outside of Japan, so there is currently no word on whether it will be released any where else.

Epic Mickey 2 now confirmed by Disney

I recently reported that Epic Mickey 2 was rumored to be appearing sometime this year for the Wii, as well as appearing on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. In an online Disney newsletter, which has since been withdrawn, some details were revealed about the upcoming Disney game. The release date for the game is said to be sometime around Christmas, this year, in 2012. No other information, apart from what was said in the other news report I wrote, has been stated as of yet. This now confirms the existence of Epic Mickey 2 as a future release.
