Chrono Trigger is one of the stand out titles in the history of the SNES and is one of the many RPG games that were released for the Console. Many RPG titles for the SNES have a great soundtrack that accompanies an epic story, fantastic character development and fun gameplay. Chrono Trigger falls directly into this category, as well as a slew of many other releases, such as Lufia II, which was featured in the first Video Game Music of the Week article.

Video Game Soundtracks have the ability to blast you back to a time when you first played a game, and the emotions you felt when you first experienced the adventure. This goes especially for Chrono Trigger's exceptional soundtrack.

Chrono Trigger is set in different time periods, as time travel is a big component to the game. Each area changes musically to suit the environment, from the gritty future, to the adventurous and barren past. The present day in the game is 1000AD. After a few moments into the story, the player is transported to the year 600AD, 400 years in the past. The first song, Wind Scene, is played during this time period and the second song, Primitive Mountain, is played much further on in the game, when you travel to the year 65,000,000BC.

The Third song, Schala’s Theme was sampled by rapper Wiz Khalifa, in the song ‘Never Been.’

Chrono Trigger is currently available for the iPhone as of today.
